Mangrove Rehabilitation - Growing Seedlings

Today I worked in the mangrove garden...

You might recall that one of my new "projects" is rehabilitating a mangrove plantation...

There was an existing nursery when we arrived on the island, and in the first few months we busied ourselves cleaning it out and getting it ready for more seeds...

Do you remember the seeds we planted in February??  Look how they've grown...

Mangroves grow quite quickly in the first few years but take 15-20 years to mature.  It is my great hope that we can get these babies into the garden and they will grow big and strong...

Stay tuned.
